My Beautiful Wife

I will always remember the first time I ever saw My Beautiful Wife.  It was in January of our sophomore year of high school.  My family had just moved to Yukon, Oklahoma and I was trying to get to know my new classmates as quickly as possible.  When I saw her walk into the far side of the cafeteria, I quickly asked, “Who is that girl?”  I was told her name and I knew I needed to meet her.

Even though we never had any classes together in high school, we soon became good friends.  Our friendship continued to grow for several years.  Shortly after Christmas break of our senior year, I asked her out for our first official date.  I don’t remember much about the movie, but I do remember our first kiss on the front porch of her home.  Yup!  That confirmed it!  I was in LOVE!  About two and a half years later, I married my best friend.

Why do I call her My Beautiful Wife?  Because it’s the best way to describe her.  Yes, she is an attractive woman.  But once you meet her, you realize her beauty radiates from within.  She loves the Lord.  Her love for the Lord spills out to others.  Her family and friends know this to be true.  She loves children, especially babies.  If it was up to her, we would have probably given the Duggars a run for their money in the family head-count area.  Instead, My Beautiful Wife opened her heart to every foster child we cared for in our home for over thirteen years. Now, as grandchildren are being added to our family, a whole new generation will receive her hugs and kisses.

Is My Beautiful Wife perfect?  No.  She has the same struggles as the rest of us.  Do I hold her on a pedestal?  No.  She’s my best friend, we walk side by side.  My Beautiful Wife is a living example of why I know God is very fond of me.

Thank you Lord for creating My Beautiful Wife.  Please continue to bless her as she blesses those you put in her path.
